Industrial conductivity meter
Industrial conductivity meters are specialized instruments used for online, continuous, and accurate measurement of the conductivity of solutions. In industrial production and water treatment processes, they act as highly sensitive “sensory organs,” monitoring changes in ion concentration in solutions to reflect water purity, concentration, or chemical reaction progress in real time. They are indispensable key tools for achieving automated control, quality assurance, and process optimization.
Selection, Installation & Maintenance Guidelines
Key Selection Criteria
Define Range & Medium: Select the electrode type and material based on the expected conductivity and chemical properties (corrosiveness, solids content) of the solution.
Identify Process Conditions: Consider the process temperature, pressure, and flow rate to choose a sensor with appropriate ratings.
Accuracy & Features: Select the instrument’s accuracy class based on control requirements. Determine necessary output signals and communication protocols for automation integration.
Installation Best Practices
Representative Sampling: Install at a point representative of the main stream, avoiding dead legs, air bubbles, or sediment zones. Bypass installation or direct insertion are common methods.
Ensure Proper Grounding: Correct system grounding is crucial for stable readings, especially in high-purity water measurements.
Optimize Flow Rate: Maintain a stable, moderate flow across the sensor. Excessive flow can generate noise, while insufficient flow causes response lag.
Maintenance & Calibration
Regular Calibration: Perform single or multi-point calibration using traceable standard conductivity solutions to ensure long-term accuracy.
Electrode Cleaning: Clean electrodes periodically based on fouling type (scale, grease, biofilm) using appropriate chemical agents or mechanical methods.
Inspection & Storage: Regularly inspect electrodes for wear, cable seals, and instrument function. Store electrodes properly when not in use for extended periods.
