RO reverse osmosis water purifier

The core of RO (reverse osmosis) industrial water purifiers is reverse osmosis membrane technology. Its working principle involves forcing raw water through a semi-permeable membrane with pores smaller than 1 nanometer under high pressure (typically 1.5-10.5 MPa). This allows water molecules to pass through while retaining most impurities such as inorganic salts, heavy metal ions, organic matter, colloids, bacteria, and viruses, thus achieving highly efficient separation and purification.

A complete industrial RO system is typically not a single device, but a system comprising multiple treatment units:

  • Pretreatment System:** This is crucial for protecting the RO membrane. It usually includes filtration and activated carbon adsorption to remove suspended solids, colloids, and residual chlorine from the water, ensuring the feed water meets the stringent requirements of the RO membrane (e.g., turbidity <1, free chlorine <0.1 mg/L).
  • RO Main Unit:** The core of the system, consisting of a high-pressure pump, pressure vessel, RO membrane elements, and control system. The high-pressure pump provides the osmotic pressure, enabling purification.
  • Post-treatment System:** Configured according to the product water requirements. For example, if ultrapure water is required, an ion exchange unit or EDI (electrodeionization) device is connected after the RO system to remove residual trace ions, raising the water resistivity to the megaohm level.
  • Auxiliary Systems:** These include chemical cleaning devices, PLC control cabinets, and online water quality monitoring instruments.
